Thalía Gochez is a self-taught visual artist based in Los Angeles, USA. Having been raised by Mexican and Salvadoran parents, Thalía sources most of her inspiration from her upbringing and heritage.
Her work aims to highlight identity and the idea of home by merging a documentation-style while honouring and prioritizing the subject’s story with a lot of respect and love. She continues to cultivate a relationship with all her subjects and sees her creative practice as community building. Her imagemaking becomes a joyous celebration of identity, challenging the cultural appropriation that has become so common in the beauty and fashion industries. Thalía focuses on creating a space on set where it feels celebratory and empowering in hopes that the feeling has a lasting impression on the subject and the viewer soon after.
