Patriotic Pavement is a collection of photos taken in the US between 2013 and 2016. The images depict a canted, parallel universe of Amercia; subverting the tired tropes of “Americana” and revealing the skeleton beneath its well worn facade. Withal O’Keefe’s photography remins of the typical roadmovies of the 70s and 80s.
Eddie O’Keefe is an emerging photographer from Indiana, USA. Born in 1993, his images have a inherent awareness of American culture and the transgression of the American identity. He further explores this theme in his short film „The Ghosts“, a nostalgic homage to 1950s romance and rebellion. Before photography, Eddie was a national ranked demolition derby driver, until a nearly-fatal accident left him blind in one eye. What he lost in sight he made up for in artistic vision, as he picked up his father’s old Nikon and has been taking photographs ever since.
In addition to his work as a photographer, O’Keefe has directed dozens of music videos and an independent motion picture titled Shangri-La Suite, which starred Emily Browning, Luke Grimes, Burt Reynolds and Ron Livingston.
