„I am most deeply interested in sculpture and still life—implementing often inanimate subjects, which generally function as a more compelling narrative about the human psyche than a portrait might.“
Rececca Storm’s work is preoccupied with synaesthesia and largely explores still life through this preoccupation. She is interested in the tension that exists in the visceral juxtaposition of seemingly unpleasant textures and colours, implementing in her photos themes such as (un)femininity, disguise, aging, indulgence and ASMR. „I wish to create images that exist outside the limits of the archaic, pre-conceived notion of femininity, and in doing so, void these aforementioned limits for the purpose of celebrating our more garish and carnal realities.“, so Rebecca Storm. Due to Storms fascination with the senses it lends her to working with film.
Rebecca Storm grew up in the Pacific Northwest and began her undergrad at the University of Victoria in 2007, studying creative writing and studio arts. She moved to Montreal in 2008 to pursue a major in drawing and painting, and a minor in English literature at Concordia University. Rebecca graduated in 2013 with Honours standing, and currently lives and works in Montreal as a writer, editor and photographer.
