Luo Yang is one of the most influential voices in contemporary Chinese photography. Based in Beijing and Shanghai, her practice has, over the past decade, become a defining visual language for a new generation of women and youth in China.

Working through portraiture, intimacy, and the psychological atmosphere of everyday life, Luo Yang‘s photographs reveal the emotional architecture of contemporary existence. Her images move beyond documentation, transforming the external world into a space where desire, vulnerability, identity, and human connection are rendered with striking immediacy and tenderness.

Known internationally for her celebrated Girls series, Luo Yang has exhibited widely in museums, institutions, and major art platforms across Europe and Asia. Her work consistently explores the delicate tension between strength and fragility, independence and longing, themes that resonate deeply within the framework of this exhibition, where emotional relations are disclosed through the visible surface of lived reality.
