When we think of those who have passed away, our gaze often turns to the sky. Even without religious beliefs or the Christian hope of a reunion, clouds convey a sense of both closeness and elusiveness. Visible, yet intangible. Following the death of her grandmother, Julia frequently photographs the sky as a place of remembrance, longing, and devotion.

The clouds in *Say It Again, Sleep Well* appear heavy and restless to the viewer. Instead of a luminous image of the afterlife, they reveal a stormy, churning twilight. The image is a silkscreen print of a photograph on paper created from the pillowcases of the grandmother and those of the artist. The fabrics were blended and reimagined from the bedding she inherited. The pattern of the material stands out clearly. This everyday yet intimate material evokes a place of tranquility, of dreams, of thoughts before falling asleep, and of final words.
