The photo project »Leaving One for Another« illustrates individual experiences of migration and equally examines the various reasons that can be responsible for it: forced resettlement through gentrification, flight from conflict zones, or the search for new economic or personal opportunities. Again and again, the various means of transportation are made the subject of the images, which are meant to bring people from one place to another. Fully loaded, they show how people try to take their lives, their memories, their family with them on the journey.
Olgaç Bozalp is an interdisciplinary artist from Turkey who combines photography, with film and installation in his work. He is currently based in London, where he also works as an art director. A recurring element in his works is the examination and exploration of cultural identity. The photographic projects created on various journeys through Asia, the Middle East and parts of Africa primarily question Western-influenced ideas and, through the partially staged and documentary approaches, reveal Bozalp's training in theater.
